MASTS grants to sequence whole viral genomes
Congratulations to PhD student Michael Gallagher who was recently awarded a £3,000 MASTS research grant to sequence whole viral genomes using the Oxford Nanopore MinION platform. This is being done with viruses infecting Atlantic salmon to give insights into disease outbreaks in aquaculture.
Also, congrats to new Honour's student Lien Nguyen, who was awarded a MASTS-funded summer research placement to work with the Macqueen lab on a similar project, supervised by Michael Gallagher.
