WGDip – Reappraising the role of whole genome duplication and rediploidisation in eukaryotic evolution.

Current Role

My current research focuses on the evolutionary genomics of the salmon family (Salmonidae). In particular, I am working to understand the evolutionary trajectories of duplicated genes following the latest round of whole genome duplication that occurred in the ancestor of the salmonids.

Biography & Previous Work

I completed my PhD at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where I studied the evolution and systematics of the angiosperm order Ericales using phylogenomic methods. Following that, I was an NSF postdoctoral fellow at Indiana University, Bloomington, where I worked to improve our understanding of local adaptation, genomic diversity, and introgression in several white oak species of eastern North America.
