Our lab is addressing fundamental and applied research problems at the intersection of genomics, physiology and evolutionary biology

We work mainly on fish, but have broader taxonomic interests. Many of our projects are on salmonids - a family of major commercial and evolutionary importance – with several projects in collaboration with companies in the aquaculture sector.

We use big data generated via contemporary 'omics and bioinformatic tools, including genome assembly, whole genome re-sequencing, single cell transcriptomics, epigenomics, and proteomics.

We are interested in understanding genetic and functional evolution across the tree of life, especially in relation to the important phenomenon of whole genome duplication.
