Biography & Previous Work

Sofia Santos holds a degree in Biology from the University of Porto (FCUP) and a master’s degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the same institution. 


She worked has a junior researcher by developing in vitro models at the University of Graz (Austria), in collaboration with BIOFABICS. 


She is currently a PhD student with a scholarship from the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). Her research is being carried out at two institutions: CIIMAR (LANUCE) and the Faculty of Biosciences and Aquaculture at Nord University (Norway), in collaboration with the company Biofabics. Her thesis focuses on developing an in vitro model to study immune-microbiota interactions in farmed European seabass. 

outside of work

Outside work, I like to spend my time travelling and exploring new places. Love pasta, matcha, and sushi. 


Cannot go a day without music or watching my favourite Portuguese YouTuber.
